McPhies Craft Bakers presented with new champion Margaret Curran MP

Glasgow’s McPhies Craft Bakers got an early Christmas present yesterday when Margaret Curran MP signed up as a Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) Real Life Entrepreneur champion at local firm McPhies Craft Bakers.
The Glasgow East MP promised to celebrate and support her local small business community at McPhies Craft Bakers on the city’s Shettlestone Road along with the Federation of Small Business Glasgow branch. The business owners, Jim and Craig McPhie, were on hand telling of their experiences in business as well as providing festive snacks to all in attendance.
The FSB’s campaign is designed to encourage all sorts of aspiring Scottish entrepreneurs to take the plunge while giving some encouragement and advice to those that already have.
Margaret Curran MP , Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, said:
“I am delighted to sign up to the FSB Real Life Entrepreneur Campaign. In these tough economic times it is critical that we as politicians lend as much support as we can to small businesses. I am especially proud to be signing up to the campaign in McPhies Bakery within my constituency.”
Craig McPhie , co-owner McPhies Master Bakers, said:
“I know how much hard work we have put into our business over the years and understand what a difference the business has made to my own life and to the lives of our employees and local community. We’re proud to support the FSB’s Real Life Entrepreneur campaign and I’m delighted Margaret his given it her full support.”
McPhies Master Bakers have been part of the city since 1973 and are well-known for playing an important role in Glasgow’s East End community. We employ 20 people and regularly take on local apprentices and the owners, Jim and Craig McPhie regularly give talks to local schools on the importance of business in the community.
